Earlier this evening, I attended the Capital Area Food Bank’s Annual Blue Jeans Ball. I normally loathe going to this kind of DC event, but this particular event is an exception. Besides the fact that you can wear jeans to the dinner, what also makes it good is that dozens of top Washington, DC restaurants are featured at food stations scattered throughout the ballroom…and what made it even better is that several of them served dishes that featured bacon. But the one that stood out the most was a cream of mushroom and onion soup topped off with bits of bacon that was served by Vidalia. If I hadn’t gorged myself so badly at the other stations, I would have gone back for seconds…it was divine.
