Maple syrup and bacon are a regular part of a Saturday morning breakfast for me. So this morning was no different in that regard. But what made this morning’s breakfast different than any other Saturday morning breakfast is that there was no frying pan involved. And the maple syrup didn’t come out of a bottle.

I don’t usually eat candy for breakfast – I actually don’t have that much of a sweet tooth in general. But when I got home late last night, I discovered that my maple bacon lollipops had arrived in the mail. And when I woke up this morning, I just couldn’t wait any longer to try one.

 

Yep, those are real bits of glorious bacon floating around in the hardened maple syrup (it’s also a beautiful spring day in Phoenix as you can tell from the photo).

 

I’m not just being an excessive advocate of all things bacon when I say these lollipops are really, really yummy. They’d make a good snack when you’re sitting at your desk working and suddenly the idea of delicious hearty breakfast pops into your head. They’d be a tasty treat to serve guests after a dinner party. Heck, they’d even be a good substitute if you’re on a diet and can’t afford all the calories of a full breakfast of pancakes, maple syrup, and bacon.

 

There has already been a lot of chatter in the bacon blogosphere this week about this new product. And I have a feeling the maple bacon lollipop is something baconphiles will be chatting about for a long time.
