I was in NYC for work last week and finally had the opportunity to eat at the celebrated West Village gastropub, The Spotted Pig. This restaurant has been on my to-do list for over a year now, so I was pretty excited to go.

There were many bacon-blessed items on the menu to choose from, and my dining companion and I sampled a couple of them. But the one worth highlighting was an appetizer called Devils on Horseback.

If you aren’t familiar with this traditional bacon-wrapped-treat-on-a-stick, it’s a warm gooey, sticky, bacon wrapped prune. Delicious…and has the added benefit of keeping you regular!

Dining at The Spotted Pig any night of the week usually involves a wait, and subsequently the bar area is always jam packed. So if you go (which you should, even though a 2 hour wait is not uncommon), just take a strong sense of patience, an empty stomach and enjoy the Pig.
