In less than 11 weeks, my book – Bacon: A Love Story – will finally be released to the Bacon Nation. This is a project I’ve been working on since November 2, 2006 (that would be 2.3 years, or 28 months, not that I’m counting). I’ve spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours researching, writing, interviewing, and tasting. Most of the time it was a lot of fun (although there were definitely times when I was ready to throw in the towel). Unfortunately there were also times when this blog suffered because my brain was fried like a crispy piece of applewood smoked bacon and simply couldn’t produce any more content.
But all of that is behind me, now the fun begins, and I really can’t wait to share it with all of you!
To kick off the countdown to the launch date, and to begin the process of having some fun with everything I’ve learned about bacon while writing the book, today I’m launching a social network dedicated solely to the Best Meat Ever.

While the fun will continue here on Bacon Unwrapped, I look forward to interacting with all of you in the new community as well. Going forward I’ll be highlighting things going on in the Bacon Nation here on Bacon Unwrapped, and vice versa. We’ve already started some fun Groups and Forum Discussions. The Bacon Nation page also features a feed of blog entries from all your favorite bacon blogs including Mr. Baconpants, Bacon Haikus, Bacon Salt Blog, The Bacon Show, Bacon Today, International Bacon Day, Lords of Bacon, Royal Bacon Society, and Skulls and Bacon, among others – many of these bloggers are featured in my book (and I’m grateful to them for their help). I hope to make the community a fun gathering place for all members of the Bacon Nation and I can’t wait to see what it evolves into – when bacon is involved, anything can happen!
