Organizers of the world’s premier bacon fellowship organization announced a new event in its international bacon pilgrimage – Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival’s “Extreme Bacon Bite Challenge™”. The event will be held at Rain® in Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas on November 14 and has been selected as an official qualifying event for the 2016 World Food ChampionshipTM (WFC) in Kissimmee, Florida. The one-day celebration will offer 10 chefs the chance to compete for a prize package valued at $4,000.
Among the 10 competing chefs, Chef Marcus O’Brien, Executive Chef of the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas is counting the days. “I’m super excited to present our Extreme Bacon Bites to the judges and attendees. Who doesn’t like bacon? People have tattoos of it on their body! When the last time you saw someone with a salad on their arm?”
Not only will Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival’s “Extreme Bacon Bite Challenge™” be a chef competition, it will also be an EXTREME bacon fellowship event that will blow the minds of 1,500 lucky lard-lovers. The quirky celebration will offer bacon-enthusiasts bacon from Berkwood Farms, bacon-inspired bites prepared by participating chefs, an Elvis costume competition, a bacon-infused wedding ceremony by United Church of Bacon, electronic dance music and EXTREME bacon fellowship.
Brooks Reynolds, event co-founder and chair explained, “Now in our 8th year of promoting bacon fellowship worldwide, it only made sense to have a presence in Las Vegas.” Reynolds continued, “The culture of Vegas embodies many values that bacon-lovers hold dear. First and foremost, being that it’s okay to go EXTREME, and enjoy life’s guilty pleasures every now and again.”
Historically Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival events have sold out quickly, a little too quickly according to organizers who unanimously voted to broaden ticketing opportunities by hosting a variety of promotions and competitions leading up to the event. One of the most exciting competitions will provide a chance for lucky couples to be married or renew wedding vows by the United Church of Bacon on the event main stage. A portion of the event proceeds will go to support Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada. Additional donations will also be accepting via the event’s ticketing website hosted by Eventbrite.
