I’ve always thought it was odd that hamburgers are called “ham”burgers if they are made from beef. Tonight I actually did a little research into the issue and it turns out they are named after the town of Hamburg in Germany, and the reference has nothing to do with ham, the product of our friend the pig.

But a couple of fellow bloggers have set out to create a burger that is truly a product of the pig and worthy of the “hamburger” label, in the form of a “bacon burger”. Both experiments involved ground bacon shaped into a patty and served on a bun just like you would eat a traditional hamburger.
