Charleston, South Carolina is a city where I’d like to spend more time at some point in the near future. I’ve been there once, but not for long enough. My reason for wanting return is not only because the city itself is charming and full of interesting sites to see, but Charleston also has a thriving restaurant scene. And earlier today I discovered I have one more reason to visit. I was having a few cocktails with some colleagues, and of my co-workers mentioned a bacon-flavored cotton candy she had sampled at McCrady’s Restaurant in Charleston. A quick review of their menu reveals several bacon-themed items in addition to the cotton candy. But the way the cotton candy was described to me sounded simply delicious…the cotton candy itself tastes like bacon, and when you lick the sugar from your lips you get a second burst of bacon-y goodness. I’m drooling just thinking about it.
Here’s a link to an article in the Knoxville News Sentinel that describes the bacon-flavored cotton candy and some of the other dishes you might encounter at McCrady’s.
