I recently caught a rerun of the Simpson’s called “Simple Simpson.” The episode starts with Homer seeing a TV commercial for Farmer Billy’s Bacon and promoting a contest to win a tour of the bacon factory.
Homer Simpson: (talking to the TV) Do I ever.
FB: Would you like to see how a pig goes from loving life to your fork and knife?
HS: Would I.
FB: Well if you open up one of these here packages and find a golden ticket, you get a tour of Farmer Billy’s bacon factory!
Announcer: Warning. Bacon factory may explode.
FB: You’ll see the hoof grinder, the marrow sluice, and of course the 5 story pig shredder, blessed by 3 popes. If you like bacon, you’re gonna love it. And if you don’t like bacon, well then the hell wit’ ya!
HS: I’m going to find that golden ticket and win that tour! The only thing that can make bacon more delicious is seeing how it’s made!
(Homer proceeds to Kiwk-E-Mart to purchase packages of bacon)
Apu: (scanning Homer’s packages of bacon at the checkout stand) OK, Farmer Billy’s smoked bacon, Farmer Billy’s bacon fed bacon, Farmer Billy’s travel bacon…Mr. Simpson, if you really want to kill yourself, I also sell handguns.
HS: Nope just looking for that golden ticket! (begins peeling packages in search of ticket) Nope. Nothing. Nope. Nada. Ah…the golden ticket! At long last! (begins kissing Apu)
Apu: Mr. Simpson, please, I fear your smooches are premature. This is in fact a silver ticket.
Apu: This silver ticket entitles you to judge the pig competition at the Springfield County Fair.
HS: Hmmm…judge a pig competition? I’m no super genius…or are I? (grabs ticket and leaves store)
Homer then proceeds to judge the pig contest at the fair, but it is interrupted when he goes to rescue Lisa from a mean judge at the place setting contest. After that there are unfortunately no more references to bacon or pigs. But it was entertaining while it lasted.
